Mike Oliver flew fighter aircraft during the war in the Battle of Britain and from Malta, and after the war with No600 (City of London) Sqn RAuxAF. He was Chief development engineer with Connaught Engineering Company working on and driving Grand Prix Racing Cars.

He joined Folland Aircraft as a Test Pilot in 1957 .
