William 'Bill' H Else 1921-1985
W H 'Bill' Else, served with the RAF from the age of 20. He did his initial training in Britain and was one of the first English pilots to train in the USA. He flew Typhoons doing low-level attacks on pin point targets. He was appointed to an OTU and the seconded to the A&AEE at Bsocombe Down as a Test Pilot.
In 1947 he joined Armstrong Whitworth as a test pilot,and attended the ETPS. He flew as second pilot to Eric Franklin on the maiden flight of the Apollo and flew several other prototypes for AWA. He latterly flew for Hawker Siddeley, and was a Captain with Air Anglia.
